Quantity surveying & construction costing

Make the quantities clear.
Make the estimate traceable.

Learn a connected workflow for reading construction information, measuring work and preparing a documented estimate. Practise organising descriptions, units, quantities and rates so another person can review your assumptions.

This quantity surveying and estimation course in Sharjah supports civil engineers, site engineers, estimators and graduates developing commercial construction skills. Discuss civil, fit-out or introductory MEP take-off exercises that match your role.

01 / MEASURE

Understand what is included.

Connect drawings, specifications and measurement rules before preparing a take-off.

02 / PRICE

Explain the rate build-up.

Review material inputs, labour productivity, waste and the allowances used in your estimate.

03 / REVIEW

Keep a record of assumptions.

Organise BOQs, exclusions and revision notes to support a clear pricing review.

Measurement comes first: A digital tool helps organise take-offs; results still depend on correct scale, units, drawing information and measurement rules. Discuss NRM 2, POMI or the method specified for your project. Contract conditions and measurement rules serve different purposes.

Put the learning to work

A project estimate
you can explain.

Follow a selected building or fit-out brief from drawing review through take-off and pricing. Record what is measured, how it is priced and which assumptions shape the estimate.

Your trainer will confirm the drawing set, measurement method, software tools and required project outputs.

Discuss your project goals ↗
  1. A drawing & scope review

Organise drawing references, revisions, specifications and included work packages.

  2. A quantity take-off record

Present marked-up measurements with units, deductions and review notes.

  3. A BOQ & rate study

Explain item descriptions, quantities, rate inputs and costing assumptions.

  4. An estimate summary

Before you join

Quantity surveying questions,
answered.

Who is this course suitable for?

Civil and site engineers, quantity surveyors, estimators, fit-out professionals, tender assistants and engineering graduates can enquire. Share your role and experience to discuss the right starting level.

Can beginners join quantity surveying training?

Beginners can discuss a foundation pathway. Basic construction drawing knowledge and computer skills are helpful. Admissions will explain the prerequisites and any recommended foundation support.

Which software will I learn?

The proposed pathway uses PlanSwift for digital take-offs and Microsoft Excel for BOQ and costing exercises. Confirm software versions, included tools, access arrangements and integration requirements before enrolment.

Will I learn BOQs and rate analysis?

The proposed curriculum covers item descriptions, units, quantities and pricing. Rate exercises discuss material, labour and plant inputs along with appropriate allowances and pricing assumptions.

Does the course cover concrete, reinforcement and finishes?

The proposed pathway includes selected substructure, concrete, formwork, reinforcement, masonry and finishing exercises. Request the detailed syllabus to confirm the drawing inputs and measurement depth.

Is MEP estimation included?

Introductory take-off exercises may include selected MEP runs and counts. Detailed HVAC, electrical or plumbing estimation needs a clearly agreed discipline-specific scope. Ask which topics are included in your batch.

Will I learn NRM 2 or POMI?

Discuss the method of measurement required for your work. The trainer will confirm which rules and examples are used. RICS NRM 2 addresses detailed measurement for building works; contract conditions are a separate subject.

Does software guarantee an accurate estimate?

Accuracy depends on the drawing set, calibration, units, measurement conventions, quantities and pricing inputs. The learning workflow includes review steps and a record of assumptions.

Are the preview rates current UAE prices?

No. The preview uses fictional AED rates solely to explain the estimating workflow. Course exercises will identify the source and date of any pricing inputs used.

What certificate will I receive?

Confirm the applicable CADD International completion certificate and assessment requirements. This course does not award RICS chartered status or a professional licence. Any external credential must be confirmed separately.

Can I attend online from the UAE or GCC?

Enquire about instructor-led online live classes and share your schedule and computer setup. Ask about classroom availability in Sharjah, Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

What are the duration, fees and payment options?

Request the current training-hour plan, project requirements, total fees and available batches. Admissions can explain available Tabby or Tamara options and their terms.
