Design decisions with connected information

Understand the proposal.
Explain how the team works.

A useful design workflow makes alternatives easier to assess and updates easier to follow. This Forma training page brings together two learning options: early site-design exploration and controlled exchange of BIM information.

Build practical understanding through guided exercises. The selected path determines whether your project focuses on a site proposal and analysis interpretation, or on model sharing and coordination review.

01 / EXPLORE

Compare design ideas.

Organise concept alternatives and explain the relationship between the brief, site context and proposed built form.

02 / REVIEW

Interpret the information.

Read a study or model-review finding in context, considering the inputs, assumptions and decisions it can support.

03 / COMMUNICATE

Make updates easier to follow.

Present your decisions through organised views, a review narrative or an agreed information-sharing process.

Your learning path

  • Compare options with a clear explanation of the design rationale.

Practical outcome: A set of massing alternatives for review.

04 · Site Design: environmental analysis interpretation
  • Explore available sunlight, wind or noise studies for the selected exercise.
  • Discuss microclimate or embodied-carbon tools where included and accessible.
  • Review study settings, assumptions and the limits of early-stage results.
  • Use findings to explain a possible concept revision.

Practical outcome: A comparative study narrative linked to a design decision.

05 · Site Design: proposal presentation & Revit handoff
  • Organise views and findings into a readable proposal presentation.
  • Explore available presentation or board workflows.
  • Discuss supported transfer of a concept into Revit.
  • Review what needs further modelling or checking after the transfer.

Practical outcome: A concept presentation and an explanation of the next design stage.

06 · Design Collaboration: teams, access & shared information
  • Explore project roles, team organisation and folder permissions.
  • Review how shared model information is organised and accessed.
  • Understand the requirements for supported cloud worksharing activities.
  • Discuss the distinction between authoring, publishing and sharing.

Practical outcome: A clear description of team access and model-information flow.

07 · Design Collaboration: packages, timelines & changes
  • Explore team timelines and the creation of design exchange packages.
  • Review shared information before consuming a package.
  • Compare updates and identify relevant design changes.
  • Explain a controlled exchange process between participating teams.

Practical outcome: A guided design-package exchange and review exercise.

08 · Design Collaboration: model coordination & issue review
  • Explore a model-coordination space where access is provided.
  • Review model interfaces, viewpoints and available clash findings.
  • Organise issues with clear descriptions and follow-up actions.
  • Explain how a review finding returns to the design team.

Practical outcome: A coordination review pack with selected findings and next actions.

09 · Applied project for your selected learning path
  • Develop a site proposal or a collaboration exercise around the agreed brief.
  • Organise the model information, study findings or package exchanges.
  • Review your outputs against the selected project requirements.
  • Present your decisions and explain the workflow used.

Practical outcome: A Forma project presentation suited to your selected path.

Clear answers before you join

Questions about Autodesk Forma?

Which Forma product does this course cover?
This page presents two learning paths: Forma Site Design for early planning and analysis, and Forma Design Collaboration for shared BIM information. Admissions will confirm the exact modules included in your selected enrolment.
Is Forma Design Collaboration the new name for BIM Collaborate Pro?
Yes. Autodesk uses Forma Design Collaboration for the product formerly called BIM Collaborate Pro. Its collaboration workflows are distinct from the early site-planning tasks in Forma Site Design.
Do both products have to be included?
You can discuss a focused path or an agreed combined programme. The project work, duration, access and fee depend on the scope confirmed with admissions.
Who can join this course?
Architects, urban designers and architecture students can discuss the Site Design path. BIM authors, coordinators, project architects and design-team members can discuss the Design Collaboration path. Share your experience to choose suitable preparation.
Do I need Revit experience?
Revit knowledge is useful for model handoff and Revit collaboration exercises. It is not the same requirement as learning early site-design concepts. Admissions will explain the preparation needed for your selected path.
Which environmental studies will I learn?
Discuss the selected Site Design exercises with admissions. The proposed learning areas include sunlight, wind or noise studies, with other tools covered where included and accessible. Availability depends on the account, project data and current software capabilities.
Will I learn Revit cloud worksharing?
Discuss this activity under the Design Collaboration path. Practical cloud worksharing requires suitable Revit access, product entitlement and project permissions. Admissions will confirm what can be practised in your training setup.
How long is the Forma course?
Ask admissions for the confirmed hours, selected modules, project requirements and calendar. The number of weeks depends on session length, frequency and the agreed format.
What software access do I need?
The two paths use different services and entitlements. Ask the team to confirm Autodesk account access, subscriptions, project permissions, browser requirements and any desktop tools used for the selected exercises.
Can I study online?
Enquire about instructor-led online live sessions or Sharjah classroom training. Admissions can also discuss Dubai and Abu Dhabi branch availability, preferred languages and suitable timings.
How do I get certificates, fees and batch details?
Complete the enquiry form below or call +971 56 177 5009. Share your role, current software and preferred Forma path. Admissions will confirm the syllabus, applicable credentials, fee and next available batch.
